Here we go.
COUGAR TOWN
Two weeks ago, it was, what I thought, the funniest episode I've seen of the show yet. Basically, Ellie and Jules have a game of calling out "friend test" to each other when they think the other is lying and whoever get's friend tested has to tell the truth. It's a pretty remarkable trick that I think I'll start using on my own friends. Any thoughts?

The show itself was cute and adorable and between Andy getting tied to a tree, and everyone lying down in the back of Ellie's pick-up truck(which I have to admit was a weird storyline) Laurie's exclamation of "i love our group," made me wish that i was a part of them too. It was probably the first and last time I felt that way.

Because following up that episode was the Valentine's day episode last week. About a week and a half before VDAY. weird. The show was hoe hum because it was all about everyone trying ot figure out what to do for valentine's day in what seemed like their usual ways. Jules tried to get Grayson to open up to her, Andy wanted to do something big for Ellie and of course she wouldn't let him. I mean, it was just kind of boring. THANK GOD for barb coming in with a dirty picture she had taken of herself and just for a moment showed it to Laurie and Travis with possibly the best line of the show. "I keep it long in the winter. I died.
I still love the opening of the show and the title page and all that, but I think the show might be nearing it's end. :(
And the list of the shows not on in the past two weeks.
BETTER WITH YOU(sadly I think it's going to be canceled unless they pull out all the stops)

GLEE
Seriously people, what gives? You take over a month off over the holidays and then back for two episodes and you're gone again, I can't deal!!!!
So in it's absence, I've been watching JOAN AND MELISSA. Seriously, watch the damn show. Joan River's is a remarkable human being and I just wish I knew her. I could only be so lucky for her to be my mother. or even my friend.
And then back to this week's shows.
GLEE
Oh shit, we have two this week! However they scored the ever lucrative time slot after the superbowl is beyond me, but here we go.
The superbowl show was awesome. The premise was simple. There is too much fighting between the footballers and the gleeks. So coach Bieste and Mr. Shue put the football players into the glee club. However, the one snafoo is that they have to perform the halftime show at the conference game because Sue scheduled their regionals the same day, which sent Santana, Britany, and Quinn into a rough spot.

The big bully guy threw a fit because he thought he looked stupid doing all the dance moves, but really really enjoyed himself. Even Mr. Shue complimented him, and for a moment, I thought he was going to have a change of heart. But, in the first and probably only smart move on the show, they kept things going with him being a bully. I think it's commendable to show that he can't and doesn't change overnight because that is never the case. And they are, in turn, giving a little insight to why he is the way he is.
And then, in a new and shocking twist, The three heads of the Cheerios quit. Surprise surprise. I can't really say much about it.
I mean, it had some really good songs and some pretty nice themes, and it was a great first episode back after the break.
And then, in true Glee form, one good episode equals one bad one. And last night sucked.
It was valentine's day and just one stupid thing after another. PUck likes the new fat girl, who I still don't think can sing, and sings her the song "fat bottomed girls." Funny, yes, offensive, yes. SO, maybe not so bad. But then, we have to sit through the asian chick's sobbing "funny valentine." I mean, phoney as all hell. i just didn't buy it, but it was funny.
But then, there was a sleepover with Kurt and Mercedes and Rachel that was cute. It was like all of the gay little sleepovers I wish I had had in high school, but wasn't allowed to have. And they all realized that they are going to be stars and have to keep themselves single to be able to put their pain into the song.

And then, in the unbelievable part of the show, the new guy, Blaine arranges a performance to the man he likes at the GAP. Although Kurt thought it was going to be him, it was some ugly guy who works at the freaking GAP. i mean, what? Hello, this is LA people. (At least that's where the make the fake ohio) But for real? That was the cutest guy you could find for Blaine to sing to? Seriously? You couldn't find some other homeless looking homo to play that role? Cause that guy was NOT CUTE!
Anywho, the guy got fired for Blaine's outrageous performance, and he's "not out." To which kurt references people seeing the kid's hair and suspects everyone does in fact know that he's gay. I'm sorry, what? That stringy birdsnest on top of his ugly face? Gay men have much better sense than that. Sorry, Ryan Murphy, better brush up on the youthful gays out there.
And then the show ends with Finn and Rachel finding some closure. And Rachel belts out the Katy Perry song Firework. Now, I LOVE Lea Michelle's voice, but seriously, she's just not a pop star. This song was a miss for me. And I'm so sick and tired of her being whiney and bitchy. I just want to see her character make a full change by the time she graduates.
BETTER WITH YOU
Better with Valentine's day. Well, I think, sadly, it's time to be better without this show. This episode was cute. And that's all it's ever been; cute. It's never been really funny, but always the same. And I really dont' think consistency will be enough to keep them on the air. So, good luck to everyone, because i suspect Mr. Sunshine will be taking your time slot.

Anywho, this show was fun with the premise being that the newest guy, Casey, wants to go over the top for MIA for Vday, but Joel and Ben don't want him to, so the girls dont' get jealous of each other. however, Casey doesn't listen, and then before we know it, the men are in competition with each other who can do something better.
Meanwhile the girls all have to go work for Mia's internet company and her Mom ends up firing her internet wizard, and the girls have to stay and miss out on the valentine's surprises. Of course they had to miss out on everything.
Back at someone's LA version of a NYC apt, there is a massuese, a chef and a gay looking pianist/singer and the guys are all enjoying everything. Totally creepy. Just creepy. But, the girls make it just in time to join in the festivities, and everyone is happy again.
It was ok.
MODERN FAMILY
Return of the Bixby!!! OH MY GOD. it was hilarious. Phil and Claire tried to relive their exploits from last season when they tried to role play which ended up in disaster. What I love is they thought they could do it again without complications. Of course Phil ends up in the wrong room and most likely banned from the hotel because he surprised an elderly lady! HAHAHA
Gloria and Jay try to have a nice evening out, and Jay is trying to surprise Gloria with a personal chef at home. However, Gloria caught on and moved everything AND bought him a motorcycle. So she could win. Apparently, she thinks vday is a competition. I mean, everythign is a competition in a relationship, right?

Then the kids. Oh my gosh this was creepy! Hayley was ditched by her boyfriend, so Manny helped her break up with him, in the hopes that he could move in on her. Um, you're related. Granted, it's by marriage, but still! She's like your niece or something. Gross dude. But thankfully, Dylan came in very quickly with a fun song and won her heart back. THANK GOD! Manny lay off, she's family. Don't shit where you eat.
And the gays. Even more of a competitive couple! They think Mitchell's assistant has a crush on him, but then they think it might be Cam. So they leave their fancy dinner to go find out. Then they realize that it's not really that important. BUt seriously, it is! You have to find out. And they end up right back where they started when the delivery boy flirts with them. HAHAHAHAHA...
I love it!
And new this week,
MR. SUNSHINE
I didn't really know what to think of this show. It's not bad. But it's only good because of Alison Janney. i mean, is there anything that woman can't do? Seriously, the show is about a man who is the manager of an events arena. Janney plays the owner of said arena. The always high and racist and inappropriate owner of the arena.
He's hooking up with a woman who's also hooking up with his best friend and leaves
Perry for his best friend. And then Janney sends her son to him to get him a job somewhere, meanwhile giving a press conference claiming she doesn't even have a son because she's, as she says, "super high," then tries to take a child and throw them at a clown during a press event to praise her for her love of children. I mean, she's so ridiculous. I can honestly say she is one of the most talented women in the business. But, we'll see if she's enough to keep this show on the air.
Best for now!
